The Powerful and Pretty Pomegranate

A ruby in the rough, pomegranates are not only delicious, they are so very good for you. And this is the time of year to get them fresh at our store now. Plus we have lots of items featuring this wonderful fruit.

WHY POMEGRANTE?
Pomegranates are considered by many to be a super-fruit, like blueberries. Research indicates that pomegrantes may have almost three times the total antioxidant ability of green tea or red wine. Plus pomegranates have lots of potassium, are high in fiber, and contain vitamin C and niacin. Not to mention they are fun to peel and eat (kids LOVE them!) and they taste terrific!

POM IN THE DELI
Our deli is harnessing the beauty and health of pomegranates in our popular Holiday Salad, which we will offer nearly every day as long as pomegranates are in season. This fantastic salad features arugula, blue cheese, pomegranate seeds, and candied pecans. It is a salad that even a picky kid would eat! Throughout the season in the deli, we will also be offering Pomegranate Lemonade, and Pomegranate Green Tea by Republic of Tea, a very tasty, deep red, fruity and refreshing tea.

POM IN THE STORE
In our fridge, look for Sweet Leaf Pomegranate Green Tea in bottles. It is a refreshing accompaniment to your lunch. In our wine cases, look for Sebastia’s Pomegranate Wine (and stop in for a taste on Oct 24!). We also have some great gourmet pantry items that feature pomegranates, including Sima's Pomegranate Vinaigrette (all natural, fat-free and truly delicious), Sima's Pomegranate Jam, and Narsai's Assyrian Pomegranate Marinade (wonderful with lamb). From Earth and Vine, the Pomegranate Beverage Elixer is delicious for a classic Shiirley Temple or Tequila Sunrise, and their Pomegranate Pear with Port Culinary Sauce is perfect paired with sweet creamy blue cheese or stilton with fruit or rosemary seasoned lamb chops. Robert Rothschild's Cranberry Pomegranate Preserves is a great bagel spread, baste for ham or chicken, or topping for brie on crackers, and the Pomegranate Cranberry Chutney is also a great accompaniment or glaze for meats, chicken or fish, and a great cheese topper.

And to finish off your pom-perfect meal, try Pomegranate Sorbet from Sorbetto Classico (in our freezer).

Stop in soon and try some today!
