The Latest From the Fancy Food Show



Each January, Jan and Francis Thompson travel to San Francisco for a tough assignment: the Fancy Food Show. Here, more than 1,000 vendors offer more than 80,000 gourmet products. Jan and Francis wander the aisles for hours, sampling and looking for the best new items to carry in the store.

Here are highlights of Jan’s finds, available in the store now.

DIVINA OLIVES
This delicious line was one of Jan’s favorite show finds. Look for these and other new offerings: Pitted Kalamatas (Authentic style—firm, fruity, with a wine-infused snap); Greek Olive Mix (a medley of Greek olives in aromatic wild herbs); Cracked Green Olives (young olives cured in brine to preserve their mild, fresh flavor); Roasted Yellow & Roasted Red Peppers (Sweet fire roasted peppers); and Mt. Athos Green Stuffed with Blue Cheese (featuring a smooth olive from the Halkidiki Peninsula in Northern Greece, this is a buttery and creamy delight). Jan will be sampling some of these olives this month, so stop in and give them a try!
 
SEASONED SKEWERS
Another favorite was the Seasoned Skewers from Callisons in Seattle. These hefty wood skewers are flavored with all-natural herbal extracts and natural oils. Offering a blast of flavor from within, the skewers are available in Honey Bourbon, Citrus Rosemary, Thai Coconut Lime, Indian Mango Curry, Mexican Fiesta, Garlic Herb (Try them tonight! GOURMET POPCORN
Jan says she was also persuaded to order some “Popcorn Persuasion,” featuring a rich butter toffee Popcorn with fresh roasted almonds, cashews and macadamias, all drenched in delicious milk and white chocolates. This would make any movie night special!

PEAR CHUTNEY
Jan also ordered Tomato Pear Chutney from A Perfect Pear after hearing someone talk about using it over goat cheese on a crostini—yum!
