Our Award-winning Food
All year, Jan and Francis Thompson look forward to their annual trip to the San Francisco Fancy Food Show.
Sponsored by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade, the annual show is a smorgasbord of delights for “foodies.” “Francis and I wander the booths, trying all sorts of delicious concoctions from all around the U.S. and the world,” says Jan. “It is a great opportunity for us to see and sample hundreds of new products in just one weekend. And we always come back with lots of ideas for new items to feature in the store.”
CUSTOMER FAVORITES
“At this show, we have discovered many products that have gone on to become some of our customer favorites,” adds Jan. For instance, the Starr Ridge line of cookies and crackers has won many Fancy Foods awards, including Outstanding Product Line, Outstanding Baked Good (for their Cinnamon Grahams), and Outstanding Cookie or Cracker (for their Pecan Shortbread, Asiago Cheese Cracker, and Olive Oil Cracker). And guess what? “They are very popular in the store, too,” says Jan.
In addition, the ever-popular Earth & Vine Provisions line, a locally owned company based right nearby in Loomis, has also won many awards, such as Best Product Line, and Best Jam, Preserve, or Sweet Topping (for the Red Bell Pepper and Ancho Chili Jam and for their Banana Rum Pineapple Jam).
Another fun award-winning product is the Hot Pepper Relish, locally made in Granite Bay, which won first place and the Golden Chile Award at the 10th Anniversary Fiery Food Challenge.
NP CONTEST
Jan and Francis got to thinking...what products would win awards from our customers? To find out, they are hosting the first-ever NP Customer Favorites Contest. Everyone who votes will be entered in a drawing to win a wonderful gift baskets with all the winners from each category.
