Cooking Classes Spring Cooking Classes with Chef Chelsea Here at Newcastle Produce, we have the best ingredients, a flexible, comfortable space to learn, and experienced teachers who make classes fun (and tasty!). No wonder our classes are so popular! All evenings include recipes, training, time to shop for ingredients, and menu planning. Call the store to sign up today, (916) 663-2016. All these classes are taught by Chelsea Federwitz, who is the Newcastle Produce chef and a popular class teacher. Chelsea is a pastry artist and a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in Saint Helena, California. Pictures of previous classes and more information are on her artful blog www.flour-girl.blogspot.com. Vegetarian Cooking March 25, 6:30 pm, $35.00 per person. Learn to use healthful ingredients to create healthful family meals including flavorful soups, salads, appetizers, main dishes and baked goods. Cookie Bouquet Class April 1, 6:30 pm, $35 per person. In this hands-on cookie decorating class you will plan a cookie design and theme for your own edible bouquet, decorate your cookies with royal icing and assemble and decorate your edible creation. (Small supply list required) Raw Living Food April 9, 6:30 pm, $35 per person. Learn how to "uncook" and incorporate raw food into your everyday life. This class will focus on the essential steps to designing and preparing raw dishes. (Hands-on with demo) Westernized Sushi April 14, 6:30 pm, $35 per person. In this hands-on class you will learn how to prepare sushi rice, small rolls, large rolls and inside out rolls. Mad Hatter "Alice in Wonderland" Cake Decorating Class April 23, 6:30 pm, & April 24, 5:30 pm, $65 per person. Join us for this two night class and learn how to create and take home a two tier Mad Hatter Cake. Learn the techniques to trim, tilt and stabilize your cake for presentation. Learn how to work with fondant to create your whimsical masterpiece. This is a hands-on class. A supply list is required. All You Can Roll Tamale Class May, 4, 6:30 pm, $35 per person. Learn how to make masa and fillings, and how to wrap and steam tamales. Roll as many as you can and take them home for your own fiesta. IMPORTANT NOTES All evenings include recipes, training, shopping for ingredients and menu planning. For private cooking classes, please make reservations two weeks ahead of time and with a minimum of 6 students. (Cooking classes make a great party activity!) We order class supplies ahead of time, so if you must cancel we require at least one week's notice for refund. Classes may be cancelled If there is insufficient enrollment. We will contact you by phone at least one day before the class is scheduled. You will have the choice of transferring to another class or receiving a refund of your enrollment fee. home
